Link on main joomla web page that will take you to a SMF Page (Bridge)

    • Hi,

I am sure this is very easy. But I have not been able to work it out.

I would like to put a link on my main page (or any page really) Not a menu item, just normal web page link that when clicking it you will be taken to a SMF forum page (I am running SMF Bridge Wrapped).

Any help with this would be great
      Thanks

    • That should be easy, if I get you right...

For example, in my site with a similar wrapped forum , I would use this code anywhere in the template (either through a menu or direct implant into the index.php or content):
      http://www.joomlaspan.com/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,138/

Note that this is the link to the wrapped forum homepage. You will see it if you hover on the Forum link on the Top Menu.

    • OK,
So if I want to add a link I need to modify the index.php? and insert the link where I want it?

      Thanks

    • Where do you want exactly your link ? You say on main page or any page. Does it mean inside the page, or elsewhere ?

    • Ok
My main (home) page is currently the default page (out of the box joomla) it has content on it about joomla.

If I wanted to add a link to my forum from within that content or even even up the top of the page above the menu. Would I need to modify the index.php to do this?

I hope this make more sense.

      Thanks
      Craig

    • If you want your link within the content, edit your content (see screenshot).

    • If you want the link to show at the SAME location of the page in EVERY page of your site, insert the link within index.php.
If you want the link within content, Yves has attached an excellent screenshot, just follow that :)

      Good luck.

If its still not very clear, you may post a link to your site and we can try to assist you specifically...
