What are the best Mobile Menu Panel Tree or Selectbox?

I like the defaulted panel tree most of the time... but if I have a ton of menu items then I use the SelectBox because I feel that's easier for user to navigate a large list... most smartphones have a special display feature built in for select boxes that takes over that the user shuold be pretty familiar with already... that being said, because the panel tree is a lot more complex it can "break" easier and I see alot of posts on the boards concerning styling/formatting issues with it whereas no one ever seems to complain about the selectbox
