I had a server crash, and instead of simply reinstalling one of the sites I decided to upgrade it to Cerulean on Joomla 3 (it was a Joomla 2 site). I am not a current subscriber, but I downloaded the cerulean 3.0 rocketlauncher when I did have my subscription active, and I have more than enough licenses to use it.
Unfortunately, even though the installation seems to go fine, as soon as I click the button to be taken to the admin panel, I get the following;
Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation '=' SQL=SELECT a.*, SUM(b.home) AS home,b.language,l.image,l.sef,l.title_native FROM sm13p_menu_types AS a LEFT JOIN sm13p_menu AS b ON b.menutype = a.menutype AND b.home != 0 LEFT JOIN sm13p_languages AS l ON l.lang_code = language WHERE (b.client_id = 0 OR b.client_id IS NULL) GROUP BY a.id, a.menutype, a.description, a.title, b.menutype,b.language,l.image,l.sef,l.title_native
At this point I have done nothing aside from uploading the rocketlauncher files via FTP, and run through the several screens to configure the rocketlauncher install.
On searching these forums, I found one query on a similar error; but the response was to link to a post in a forum I do not have access to with my subscription not being current. While I would love to resubscribe for many reasons, I simply cannot afford to do so right now. Could I get some assistance with this problem here?

As an update, I deleted all files via FTP, deleted the SQL database, and reuploaded and reinstalled, using a new, differently named database. I got the exact same error(s). This server is properly configured, as I have 2 other joomla websites on it, one of which is running a rockettheme template.
I am about to attempt to install a clean gantry rocketlauncher installation, which if it works I will upload the cerulean template into. Will update the thread if it is successful - but even if it is, I would like to know what the issue is with the illegal mix of collations, and how it should have been resolved.
