SOLVED White Screen when trying to edit template

Posted 10 years 6 months ago
    • I get a white screen when clicking on my Anacron template in the Template Manager. I should be seeing the Gantry interface.
We just migrated the site from our local network to one of our internet domains. I HAD the "XML file did not load" error then I followed all of the instruction from this post including the cache purges and the extension update:
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/gantry-solved-...id-not-load?start=40

However, as stated, I am now just getting a blank white screen.

    • The PHP temporary directory is not set

The PHP temporary directory is the directory that PHP uses to store an uploaded file before Joomla! can access this file. Whilst the directory not being set isn't always a problem, if you are having issues with manifest files not being detected or uploaded files not being detected, setting this in your php.ini file might fix the issue.

PHP Upload Size bigger than POST size

The value of the upload_max_filesize in the php.ini file is greater than the post_max_size variable. The post_max_size variable will take precedence here and block requests larger than it. This is generally a server misconfiguration when trying to increase upload sizes. Please increase the upload_max_filesize to at least match the post_max_size variable or vice versa

Your PHP version is pretty old too and it will not be supported by Joomla 3.3.x.

Advanced Module Manager is outdated as well so please fix these things before we go further.

    • I adjusted the upload_max_filesize and post_max_size variable to match. However, I'm not sure where/how to set the PHP temporary directory. Can you tell me how to set that?

    • OK. I think we're ready to proceed. I uninstalled advanced module manager as I haven't taken advantage of it yet. And we won't be able to update our php for another couple weeks. Everything else has been addressed. Are we able to move forward?

    • I'm also getting this error on the extension manager: update page.
Fatal error: Class 'JHttpTransport._socket' not found in /var/www/vhosts/cirris.com/joomla/libraries/joomla/http/factory.php on line 90

I found this thread which I thought was interesting because the OP also could not edit his RocketTheme template. forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=706&t=837659
However, I don't see how his solution (replacing the libraries) will fix it. I downloaded a 3.2.4 install and looked at the factory.php and there is no JHttpTransport._socket class in that file so Joomla will still be unable to find that class if I replace that file, right?

Can you check Admin -> Site or System -> System Information -> PHP Information -> Core -> allow_url_fopen = ON

      and

Admin -> Site or System -> System Information -> PHP Information -> cURL= Enabled
and make sure at least one is On or Enabled.

    • I'm sorry but I don't understand where you are asking me to look. Is this in the Joomla back end? In plesk?
I don't see a menu in the back end called "admin." Can you specify for me? Sorry, I'm new.
