I am having an issue where pages load extremely slow. I am using the Rocket Theme "Alerion" Template. Here is what I have tested.
I currently am running the website on my localhost (laptop) via MAMP. The website runs fine and is fast (local obviously). When I move the mysql database to a remote server the pages take about 4 seconds to load. If I do a search via a search module it will take much longer.
I have tried two different hosted mysql databases (godaddy and network solutions). Any idea what I can do to fix this?

I do not have good news for you
The latest GoDaddy issue -> https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1560-no-support-will-be-provided-for-clients-using-godaddy.html
I don't know much about network solutions but the few things I had weren't great either.

We've made web design so accessible that a lot of hosting companies have just gotten plain greedy. It's a tough spot for a new designer to be in. Not enough of a client base to allow for the expense of a premium provider (Rochen - Siteground) but taking a risk of having your awesome design running on a cheap server and p*ss*ng off your client

Thanks so much for the quick response!
I've made about 5 websites now with Rocket Theme templates (on Godaddy servers) and the speed always seems to be a real issue. Is there a hosting service that you can recommend that is optimal for RT templates? Or perhaps a service that can help me figure out this issue? Perhaps some optimizing on my end is needed as well.

SiteGround has got some very good reviews
Crucial Web Hosting is used by some of our mods.

As for optimizing NoGoDaddy think of yourself entering the Tour de France on a Tricycle. NO amount of optimizing that trike will put you anywhere near the slowest competitor

- I recently did some "host hopping," trying out several companies. I am now with Bluehost and I love it. No complaints with them and their customer service is top notch.

Recently I went down this road myself and I found some EXCELLENT solutions.
#1. SSD drives. Make sure your web host uses these as it will seriously improve performance and page load times.
#2. CloudFlare. This is a free service that helps your site load times and a bunch of other stuff.
#3. LiteSpeed. This is an apache replacement that does wonders for page load times.
I am now a very proud user of StableHost which uses all three of these technologies. Page load times went from 8-14 seconds (Hostgator) to under 2 seconds!

My take:
#1 -> TOTALLY Agree!!! I use them on my PC - awesome.
#2 -> Depending on setup, this has caused issues for some of our users
