    Rocket Launcher install.

Posted 17 years 4 months ago
    • Just joined 1 year membership. Originally I used fantastico to install Joomla on my server..1.0.13. I then started looking at templates and decided that RocketTheme was the best choice.

I downloaded Firenza and installed the template with no problem. I read many of the tutorials you have, which were VERY good. I then did a phpadmin on the database to get a feel where stuff is. I just started playing with Joomla this week but tried to do my homework before making this post. After the template install, I saw it took the theme but the pages really needs a lot of work to get things organized and thought it would be much better if I could start from the Firenza Demo site which seems to be what the RocketLauncer install will do? I know the data base needs to be edited for the different categries and content. I am not sure how Rocketlauncher does this?? I could not find a tutorial or instructions on how to do the "full" install which would incl;ude database content for the Firenza Demo. I tried to do a template Install of the zip file and eventually it comed back with ....

      Upload template - Upload Error
Failed to move uploaded file to /media directory.
      [ Continue ... ]

Doing this did not make a lot of sense to me so I did a local unzip and uploaded/overwrote all the folders and files and then try to execute INSTALL.php which I in turn got restrcited access.

The DEMOS is so much closer to what I want and would like to somehow learn the proper way to execute/instal the RocketLauncher file(s). I have looked through the forum/site for instructions and found someone talking about Step 2 but I can only find instructions for just installing the template.

I am so sorry for the newbie post but I just can not seem to find what is probably the obvious. It seems this file has Joomla 1.0.13, all the firenza templates/styles and then somehow creates the database and new content?? Can someone PLEASE help me get straightened out.

      Thanks so much
      Rob

PS - My camera is loaded with XMAS pics but will get one up as soon as possible.

      Thanks Again

    • you cant upload the Rocket launcher thru the template installer because its not a template
its a template + joomla 1.0.13 + modules + content ... and whatever stuff you see in the demo site . so you cant just take the template design and the content ..

    • Thanks ... I thought so. I changed my search parmaters and just found the tutorial and am downlloading the full install now. SInce I already have an install of Joomla...can I just upload the template folder via ftp and run a script that does the database editing for the DEMO content replacing the default Joomla database content from the Fantastico install. Fantastico has already created a database with this content. Is it possible just to overwrite the database contents and does this method make sense to anyone?

      Thanks for the quick response.

    • Thanks!!! - I did this ...created a new database and did a clean install. It all worked perfect. I am at the next step and can not seem to find where some of the html content is. I am looking very hard to find stuff that displays on the page that is not in the Content Items in the Admin panel. Will keep looking.

    • Let me see if im understanding what you want... i hope dont give the wrong information
      But....
If you want overwrite your actual Joomla Installation made through Fantastico, yes you can, but all the old file will be replaces(overwritted), if you dont delete the configuartion.php you will see a message how the site is down, if you delete it, thats become automaticaly in a new installation.
Now as you said that your site only have a few weeks, try the rocketlauncher and make it since the begin.
      Regards
