Problems "sharing" pages from mobile device

  • Problems "sharing" pages from mobile device

    Posted 10 years 1 week ago
    • I just recently tried sharing a page from my website via a mobile device and it did not appear to grab the leading image nor did it grab the page title. It just picked up the description of my site and an image from a footer module.

      I'm sure I must have set something up improperly.

      Details:

      URL: www.canalestech.com
      Mobile Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (US)
      Mobile apps: Facebook & Pages manager

      Can someone test by trying to share a page from my site (no need to actually post the page, just see what the post would look like) by using a mobile device?

      I need to know what to change so that a post from a mobile device grabs the article image and some header information that comes from the article and not my site description.

      Thanks in advance for your help.

      Rich

    • Use facebooks OpenGraph debugger...

      I don't see any share buttons anywhere

    • I managed to get the sharing buttons to show up on www.canalestech.com/news , but the post preview still doesn't reflect the article I'm trying to share.

    • I'd recommend using some other plugin from the JED that properly sets OG tags...

      these are the OG tags currently set on that page:

      <meta property="og:url" content=" www.canalestech.com/ ">
      <meta property="og:image" content=" www.canalestech.com/templates/rt_anacron...ges/logo/logo-og.png ">
      <meta property="og:title" content="Canalestech.com">
      <meta property="og:description" content="">

      you can use FB's debugger to troubleshoot stuff like this:

      developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
