A General Question: Gantry5 Framework working with jQuery Mobile

Posted 9 years 7 months ago
    • In my personal experience, although gantry 5 has offered many options for mobile development, I still have to spend a lot of time tweaking my mobile pages, most of the work is repetitive and I think there should be a way to further simplify it. That is when I come across jQuery Mobile. Before I dive into it, I'd like to know if anyone has done this before? - Integrating jQuery Mobile with Joomla and furthurmore Gantry(4/5) framework?

With a brief look into JQM, I gather that a typical construcion for mobile pages is including different webpages into a single html file, or using ajax to load different pages. I feel this may conflict with the basis of Joomla or gantry, so is it viable or helpful to use jQuery Mobile in Gantry powered website?

    • I'm not a JS developer by any stretch of the imagination but I think you should be fine to call the jQM library into G5 environment... of course it all depends on what you're trying to do with that library, but just calling shouldn't have any conflicts with G5 core... you may have conflicts with some of our extensions that run mootools, which you may be able to get around by ensuring that jQM loads first, but Gantry plays just fine with normal jQuery and the same should hold try for jQM
