2 Column Blog Layout - 1 tiled column printing on PC

I have a layout which is simply for printing. Articles are created by users when they fill in a form.
The two column standard layout when you print in Safari, Chrome and Firefox stays formatted correctly, however when you print in Explorer the columns go under each other and create one column to print..
Anyone else come accross this problem?
Tearing my hair out on this one.

Printing from the web is never straightforward... different browsers and different printers may interpret the same code very differently...
@print media queries via CSS is how you can go about controlling various print options, formatting, and even colors and font sizes...

Gantry supports loading a specific CSS file(s) based on Browser detection if you want to load some styling specific to IE
