Potential new client using Rockettheme template?

Posted 9 years 5 months ago
    • I might have a new client who wants me to redesign his website. He wants it done in Joomla. I told him I am a client of the Rocket-theme templates. He heard good things about your product. I am going to suggest a few templates for him to use.

I am trying to figure a way of finding out what this client needs so I can charge him accordingly. One way is creating a Google Chrome questionnaire that I will send to him to fill out. Some of these questions will consist of domain name, number of pages, graphic use (your own, digital stock photos, or should I design graphics and take photos) as well as ill he supply the copywritin. Does anyone have any suggestions on gathering information with potential clients?

      Thank you.

    • In my experience you can ask all the questions in the world and still miss what they want. The best thing to do is to get them to look at demos and other sites and say what they like and what they don't like. Yes, I would make it clear that they need to write the copy and provide that to you. It would be better is they can provide high quality imagery too (done by a professional photographer), if they can't then you should use stock images rather than low quality images.

Really it's your job as the wed designer/developer to extract from the client what they need. I would then suggest that you write a brief that tells them what they are going to get (and not get) for their money and get them to sign that off before you start work.

      Regards, Mark.
