Suggestion - include all particles in templates

  • Suggestion - include all particles in templates

    • Hello!

In addition to some other products, I use your templates pretty often, and I am very satisfied with them, especially with the support which I think is the best out there. I am also looking forward for the new inheritence options for sections in gantry.
However, It would be nice if all the particles would be included in the gantry 5 templates. For example - there isn't an accordidon particle in the Salient template, so I need to either use rocksprocket list (wich is not so slick - like an accordion in Photon for example) or some other external module. I am aware that it is not posible nor effective to bundle every possible type of extension with a template, but things like an accordion particle are pretty basic stuff and should be included in all templates.

      Cheers

    • You can move Particles between Templates fairly easily... custom styling may of course be required however:

      docs.gantry.org/gantry5/tutorials/copying-particles

We often customize an entire Particle or portions of a Particle for a particular template style or effect... so using the same Particle in a new template doesn't always make sense... cluttering up your Particle Defaults tab with unuseful Particles doesn't make sense either... one of the great things about Particles is that they're so easy to write... TWIG and YAML are very simple languages... this gives us the flexbility to quickly build a specific particle to handle a specific job... but that also means that the Particle may not port well to other templates.

Eventually we will have a more centralized Particle library and marketplace to house Particles that can be used in ANY G5 Theme and some will work on ANY CMS that G5 supports... but for now, we're more or less custom building them per Template
