Hey guys,
I purchased the 'Photon' theme a few weeks ago. Must say, it is really nice.
I'm currently in the process of developing a website for a non-profit organization. Because it's a non-profit website, how can I get the license to be exempt as per the documents?
Also, I can't install Joomla on the new domain yet because PHP isn't updated (I have it sorted; few week delay). Is it possible for me to upload Phototon RocketLauncher to a different working domain for development purposes only without using a domain license? Only I and one other developer will have access to the said domain.
I am a user, and just like you I am developing for non-profits (I am developing for three non-profits). I subscribe for a single license, but since all of my sites are non-profit, I believe that all are legally licensed. At least that is how I read the license agreement. None of my sites are for profit, so I am not consuming my site license, according to the
Site License documentation
.
I do most of my development on a local machine, but I have in the past developed online using a subdirectory of a current site. In the rootdoc of the current site, I would create a subdirectory called "newsite_development". I then lock down access to the directory using .htaccess, so no one will accidentally stumble upon the installation. Install Phototon RocketLauncher in that subdirectory for development work.
I hope this answers your questions.
Daryl
Correction on the site licenses. I just reviewed my membership. I guess what I purchased gives me 5 site licenses, which again, from the way I read the license agreement, none of my sites would consume a site license. But, I want access to this forum, so I can ask lots of development questions.
We operate RocketTheme on an honors system, in which we place the responsibility of monitoring site license usage with the customer. Therefore, we do not provide or enforce a registration system for site licenses. You just need to keep track of your site license usage yourself (if non-profit then just consider it exempt), and if you require more site-licenses for sites that are commercial/personal, you just need to renew / upgrade at

Regarding development RocketLauncher, yes that is fine. Site licenses only count toward live websites (again commercial/personal ones). There is no connection between our products and your site license count. Therefore, your development / production websites will not be compromised in any way. Just ensure that in the end the amount of production websites using our themes reflects your site license count.
Yes, you are correct. If your websites that use our themes are specifically for non-profit organizations, then they will not consume a site license. However, as you mentioned, although your website(s) maybe categorized as a non-profit site, you will need to subscribe to our templates club, in order to download our templates and get access to the specific forums.
Yes, I am a subscriber. I have the "Joomla Plus", which gives me three licenses, but when I looked at my account, I see that I am licensed for five sites.
Yes, you received 2 site licenses from your Joomla Standard purchase in 2015, and then 3 additional site licenses in 2016 when you purchased the Joomla Plus membership, thus, giving you 5 total site licenses.
Reggie,
I seen you also replied to my support ticket. As soon as I sent it off I realised that I should have just posted in the forums, hence this topic. However, thank you all for the quick replies!
