Authentication error on the RT backend login

  • Authentication error on the RT backend login

Posted 8 years 2 months ago
    • I use RT templates in about 6 sites and up to now, the login to update paid extensions was just fine. Now when I login, it gives an error. The Password or username haven't changed.
Issue is happening in all sites, all running the latest Joomla version.

      Any ideas?

    • Before this I had gotten an error that said the update server could not be reached.

    • Hi Guys,

I must be a bit on the old dementia today. Is this the Rockettheme Updater plugin? I was pretty sure we dropped that a while back.

Try disabling the plugin and see if the update works then.

      Hope this helps 8)

    • Does this mean we don't need to be logged in to receive automatic updates for paid extensions?
Or that we'll need to do it manually from now on?

P.S. When I disable the RokUpdater I get a new error:
      Warning

Update: Could not open update site #5 "RocketTheme Update Directory", URL: updates.rockettheme.com/joomla/updates.x...c8&ignore=update.xml

      Thanks,

    • Hi there,

I do not have the rokupdater on any of my Joomla sites and they are simply updated in the same way as any other extension. I clear cache in Update and then Find Updates and then install by selecting extension and click Install.

I am never logged in to update any RT extensions.

Can you use the 'secure' option above post input to provide me with a temporary Super Admin access please and I will take a look to see what the cause may be.

      Thanks :)

    • All of the RocketLauncher sites come with that installed and enabled. In the past, in order to update paid extensions, it required login. I'm not sure if that has changed because even the latest template I used had that installed and enabled too.
I always thought that authentication with the server was necessary to use the automatic update from RT.
Strangely, up until this week, that feature was working just fine and the updates were done without problems. Now, not only we can;t login but there's an error about communicating with the server if that is disabled.
Looking forward to a solution as all five sites have the same problem.
