    Creating Mirrored Screen shots

Posted 17 years 9 months ago
    • Hi all apologies if this is the wrong spot to post this...

I have tried in PS and FW creating a similar effect to that seen on rockethemes front page, the mirrored template screen captures. I have tried using skew and perspective but can't seem to get it to look right and takes me forever tweaking things I run into trouble trying to get the mirrored section lining up and looking right......

I am not new to PS but a noob at FW's, can anyone point me in the right direction on the steps to take to make this happen?

      Cheers

    • Did you check out my mirrored text effect video? It's the same principal but with a little skewing.

    • I've found that if you have a small case 'g' or 'y' or other letter, that when they hang below the rest of the letters, the mirrored effect doesn't look as well.

    • The trick is to pick a font where they don't hang below :)

    • Thanks for those thoughts - I was having trouble with the skewing! The mirror bit is easy easy..

We sat down last night and figured it out...I'm not the best at perspective changes...But we got it sorted!

Is it possible to create one of those screenshots that has a gradient mask and maintain clean transparency. I want to put the images into veratility 2 lime and match the gradients of the background?

      Any tips on acheiving this.

    • It's exactly the same principle as with the text, but if you plan on dropping it on a transparent gradient, you will need to match the gradient up. The other solution is to use a 32bit alpha png with traparency, but then you run into problems with IE, and will be forced to use one of those pnghacks, which are problematic.

    • hmmmm....So I need to place my image on a gradient that perfectly matches the gradient of the background - doesn't sound easy. Time for solid colours in my main content areas I think..... :(
