    • Hi you guys,

I checked on the forum on how to create a dual language site. I found one topic explaining how to do it using Joomfish but unfortunately it is not longer available. Another option is to use 2 instances of joomla, one per languge.

Is there another way to aproach this? What will you recommend.

      Regards,

      Omar

    • Hi Matt,

I am working on the steps based on the link sent in order to create a dual language site.
I can not complete step 6. When I try to setup menu associations I am getting this error:

      Error
Save failed with the following error: The Language parameter for this menu item must be set to 'All'. At least one Default menu item must have Language set to All, even if the site is multilingual.

I created an Spanish Menu and I am using the Main Menu which was created by rockethlauncher in english. I am trying to setup menu associations for that manu but it tells me that I can not do it unless the language is set but if I se it, I can not safe it because of the error above.

I hope you can guide me.

      Regards,

      Omar

    • Hi All,

I was able to complete step 6 and actually the rest of the steps but I do not see the language switch on the main page.

Things I see is that I do not see the flags on the menu manager:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

I created the 2 overrides, one for each language (english and spanish). As you can see, I still have the defaul chimera originaly installed by rocketlauncher.

I enabled the multilingual status and this is what is shows:

This image is hidden for guests.
Please log in or register to see it.

Could you guys guide me. If I navigate to the main site, it does not show the menu switcher nor any of the 2 new menus created (the one for english and the one for spanish) and it shows the menu installed by the rocketlauncher.

      Regards,

      Omar

    • Hi all,

i found the problem based on the miltilingual status info after I read it and put thingso together. Each new language menu had a home or startup page but these were not published.

After I publish them, the flags are shown in the menus dropdown list within the control panel and also the flags are shown in the main site page. If I click on the flag it takes me to the right language article.

The new issue that I have is that the whole template format is gone. The header slide show is not shown, the text menu that appeared as you scroll down is not shown as well as everything else that was displayed on the main page from the rocketlauncher data.

      I appreciate your help.

    • Those things would likely be controlled by the Front Page Override for settings and then individually by assigned Modules... for each language, you'll need to create a new Module in that language and specifically assign it to each page... sounds like perhaps you need to create new modules for your missing content and assign them to you new language page... post links and comparative screenshots (working page, non-working page, etc) if you're stuck

    • Thank you Matt. I made a duplicate of the slideshow module and assigned it to the template overraide and now it is showing. Now I have to do the same for all the other modules.

The final issue I still have is regarding the menus. I am using the Chimera template which shows first the full slide show and as you scroll down, the menu appears. Well, If I go site, the menu is at the top all the time and the slideshow is at the bottom. This is the same for the spanish mennu as well for the english menu. If I want to try the defaul main menu, If I browse to the site, it takes me to the .../index.php/es page by default which shows the menu at the top. So I guess the menu functionality of appearing as you scroll down is not working. Something else I am missing when creating the menus and generating the template overrides.

      I will apreciate your input

      Regards,

      Omar
