Roksprockets and joomla 3.7 custom fields

  • Roksprockets and joomla 3.7 custom fields

    • Hi

      since joomla 3.7 now has custom fields can we know when the roksprocket includes these custom fields (as well as tags) as filters please ?

      This will be a great complement to native joomla custom fields and tags !!

    • Yes, because you have no current subscription and therefore do not have access to that forum.

      But my answer is...

      It's very unlikely that we will be making any further enhancements to roksprocket in this regard, sorry. The reasons are:

      1. our developers are extremely busy working on other projects and we have limited resources.
      2. roksprocket is a free extensions from which we derive no further revenue - so a a cost/revenue analysis there's not really a win for RT by undertaking this work.
      3. Roksprocket is an emmensely complex piece of code and the main developers of that extension left the company some time ago.
      4. roksprocket is stable and used in thousands of sites and we don't want to destabilize by attempting to add more features.
      5. Roksprocket (whilst still extremely useful and reliable) is quite an old piece of software and we are now doing development in more modern platforms/langauges such as GRAV, Gantry 5, TWIG and YAML.

      I understand it fully but in this case do you have plans for a paid replacement ?

      the need of a toolset for enhanced and programmable views is all the more important now we have these tags and custom fields
