SOLVED Have you changed your lead designer?

Posted 7 years 10 months ago
    • It seems that RocketThemes new designs are all really abstract. I don't feel like there's a mass market appeal for them. Some of the particles are excellent but the template designs seem really out there. Have you changed your main designer? They used to be really nice, they were simple and clean, what's changed?

    • No, we haven't. The design is created and then discussed by the whole team to perfect the design before we then start development and testing. If you have a design suggestion then please provide links to sites that represent what you're looking for in the "requests" forum and we'll take a look (and I'll get the DEVS to look too). Innevitably not every template can please every member and we do try to vary the designs. But we also can't make them too "niche" as we are a commercial company and we want the templates to have the widest appeal to our members.

      Regards, Mark.

    • The issue I'm having is that I find them very niche and totally different from how they used to be. There was a distinct change in the designs after Gantry 5 was released. I'll see if I can dig out some designs I like and maybe show them to you guys in the requests forum like you said. I'm not having a go, it's just been ages since I've really liked a design and been able to see myself using it. I use Hydrogen mainly at the moment and then create my own designs.

    • We did announce some time ago that we would be doing more "niche" or industry specific themes because that is what our memberships was asking for (with the proviso that we still need to make them commerically acceptable to a wide audience). http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/announcements-all/258966-changes-coming-to-rockettheme?start=0#1293193

Looking forward to your suggestions and I'll be glad to pass these along to our developers.

      Regards, Mark.

    • I believe I also asked for industry specific templates somewhere, I think it's a great idea. But if you ask me to tell you which industry the temlpates are for at the moment I really cannot. I think for example you should make a construction temlpate, and insurance company template, etc. etc. All of the demo data should be based around that industry (text can be lorum). It's still really easy to envisage the template being used for something else that way, but at the moment I don't see the vision of how it's supposed to be used at all. Maybe it's just me, maybe it would be good to get others feedback too. I'll make some suggestions anyway, if it helps me it will probalby help the community.

    • Ok I've passed the suggestions along to the DEVS - but really there is nothing "specific" about that type of site - you can use any of the templates we produce to do something like that. It's just a case of changing the images and the text really.

    • The latest demo is a lot easier to imagine its use case and the demo data is more tailored to understand the objective. Hope that feedback helps.
