I 'd like to create a site with the possibility to add events (use joomla, a rockettheme template, ...), but I don't know where to start.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to add those events? Concrete: at a given day there will be an event. I like to add a name of the event, sometimes add a photo and some explanation of the event itself.
What's the best way to do this: a blog module, just static content, a kind of faq, ...
Any recommendations are very welcome.

There are calendar components that will do just what you want on the http://extensions.joomla.org website. I am not sure if there are any for J! 1.5, but there is for J! 1.0.

IMO you would do better with the EventList component... it's better than having a calendar if you're just listing events..
