Joomla Gantry 5 multiple templates

  • Joomla Gantry 5 multiple templates

    • A client would like to create a new section for which we are thinking of implementing another template. Currently they are using Requiem and we are thinking about installing Supra as the 2nd theme. We have some questions:
      1) can we install 2 templates on the same site without messing things up? We can't think of any reason why not but who knows?
      2) will the particles from both templates be available under the module -> Gantry 5 Particle picker?

      Any other suggestions most welcome.

    • 1) Nothing will be messed up by having two templates, no.

      2) Unfortunately, you will only have access to Particles that are available with the the Default (starred) template in Joomla. Modules that use Particles from the template that is not Default will still remain but they will just appear empty (but will be saved in the DB). If you move back to that original template you can once again access those particle settings in the module.

    • Hi Reggie,

thank you for your quick response. In query to point 2, if I have understood correctly, if we swap the default template we will be able to view all the particles for the default template under joomla modules. If we configure the particle in the module we want then swap the default template again, will the particle in the module we configured before display correctly in the frontend? It is clear that if we try editing it, it will appear empty until we switch the default template again

No, it won't display on the frontend at all because it is not an available particle with that template.

Nevertheless, if you are interesting in copying over particles from one template to another, please see:
