Popout Window Manager in Joomla 1.5, but question about 1.0

Ok, let's try this question another way...
Currently, you can create a popout window and fade the background (or make opaque) utilizing script code; Joomla 1.5 comes with the code built in to use, but I'm using Replicant and it apparently doesnt support 1.5, so what I'd like to know is...
Is there a way to use the java script to popout a Joomla 1.0 module and fade the background with whatever current page you are on? What's the best way to approach this in your templates for Joomla 1.0?
I found this code for CSS:

But it doesn't reference Joomla, obviously..maybe I am overthinking this... I've tinkered with it but can't get it to work right, just looking for some additional guidance.

- If you use JCE as Editor, you might want to install JCEUtilities, which comes with a Lightbox-Integration, that you can easily create from within JCE (just give the Link a certain class).
