    New Start

Posted 1 month 1 week ago
    • It has been a long time since building or re-building a website and I'm ready to start on localhost. I've downloaded a template with the Gantry, etc. and demo site in it. Now, do I need to make a database BEFORE installing the template or will it make one when it boots up? I went ahead and put the files into the folder to use on localhost (which is set to PhP 8.2), but the message came up php version not supported? Thinking this could be related to not having a database to start? Thanks for any help.

    • This would be outside of the scope of moderator support, but it can definitely stay here if any other user wants to reply. I just need to add a reply to mark it as read for our moderator queue.

Joomla requires a database. If you intend to use the RocketLauncher to install everything, including Joomla, yes you will need a new web environment and new database and user. Gantry's requirements are minimal, Joomla requires certain things depending on the version.

    • Yes, I “believe” I need to have the database BEFORE installing the RocketLauncher…since posting that I attempted to install just Joomla 5 and got the same error so am contacting the folks at MampPro (the localhost program I use on the Mac instead of Xampp on Windows). Thanks for responding and perhaps some other users may respond as well,
