    • I know I will have the atention of the really expert ones on this.

How can i get to this?? This was one of the the lastest articule for the before and http://www.bamagazine.com/ ( a really good source of design ideas)

The site that i really like to emulate is this one

      http://www.visitnc.com

Great navigation bar, the font size choices and great background and header image.

Inside it works like Joomla, adding a few modules on the inside it will complete the package.

I hope anyone can help me on this one, especially if it is possible to do it with one of the existing templates.

    • I can't help, but I love the template. It looks REALLY good on a wide screen monitor. The background changes when you reload too. Cool.

    • Nice with the background.
That would be easy to add to any of the templates using a div.

Made me think of another use for the random background module. :)

One thing that stuck out was the use of the flash and needing to click twice for the menu to work due to the activate object security with IE. That's annoying.
The more I see flash menus the more i dislike them.

    • I know, i have heard on a radio show that this thing about the flash, was a legal problem that microsoft and a script that used to work on Explorer. That's why recently every one even our clients dont want flash sites or menus...

Can you give me an example of the div solution.???

I noticed while it loads that the header and backroung is separate, but how do they manage to fit diferent wides and talls of the pages.

And wich template will you take to made the customization?....

      Thanks for everyone responses

The best way to give you an idea is to look at the source (right click and view source) there you can see the html stuff and you can also find a link to the css files he use for the site. In there you will quickly see that the big image is divided into 3 pieces on for left column, 1 for the right column and 1 for the middle collumn.

The way he manage to make the image work on different widths is to have an image big enough to cover all sizes, for instance on 1920x1200 resolution it doesnt work any more and you will see some big grey areas in the side. In order to make em fit in the height they are just blended with the used background color.

I'm not sure why it's placed into 3 diffrent sections, but perhaps its because of load times, you could make it with one big image instead, no problem really.

In case you wanna try use one of the more simple templates so all the markup wont make you confused.

It's some kind of Flash module. Don't know if it's custom or a download.

    • I think I would have made the background fixed to avoid having to drop in a gradient and a bg colour...but some people hate the bg fixed thing. There's no clues in the code as to where the calendar came from.
But it can't be hard to use a Java random image selector and set the bg that way.
