I just came across an issue where I couldn't turn off the WSYWIG editor. When I checked the configuration.php file to edit it manually it was set to none. I then checked this file: configuration.php-dist and it was on. Apparantly, this file is taking precedence over the other and does not "listen" to the command from the Global Config w/in the control panel (Joomla 1.0.15, Super Admin).
Thanks to Andy's awesome post on editing the TinyMCE mambot code I can use the WSYWIG editor now, but still curious about this php-dist file. Should I have deleted it (or the basic configuration.php) after the Rocket Launcher install (Catalyst)? I checked the tutorials and couldn't find any reference to it. My apologies in advance if this has been already answered somewhere.
The configuration-php-dist file is there incase you cannot go through the initial installation. Its for those who may have to do the installation manually. It will have no effect/purpose after installation.
Thanks so much James. I just deleted it w/o a problem. And to add to/clarify my initial post - I now see the php-dist file has nothing to do with the WYSWYG problem I encountered. With this file deleted, WYSWYG still won't turn off. I've tried every browser, deleted cache, and double checked the configuration file - all is set to off/none. If by chance you can direct me to a post that addresses this odd issue, please let me know. I'm wondering it I should re-install Joomla. Thanks!
I never would've thought to look there! Each Joomla site I've set up to date (over 10) as super-admin, the WSYWYG editor would turn off for me under Global default. Thank you, thank you!
