Adding Sample Content

    • I'm having trouble with my install of the Rocket Launcher browser install package on my powweb server. It worked great on my accounts @ HostGator.

I'm trying every install to get Joomla installed and will try the manual install next. My question is, is it possble to load in the template with the sample content after a manual install?

    • I'm with Scott!

The RocketLauncher worked great after I moved from 000webhosting to 1and1.

But, my PrimeTime install without the launcher still yielded an install with stuff out of place and missing.

I've spent today rearranging things with James' help and I guess I'm good to go.

If it's possible to install a Rocket Theme without the launcher and without having to alter a bunch of stuff, I'd love to know for the next time!

Just an outline or directions to a specific thread or place in a thread or a specific link to a tut would be wonderful!

Re: Your post below... http://www.1and1.com  is working great for me...so far... everything has gone together, no sweat.

    • I'd love to use the Rocket Launcher with Powweb, that way I'll be able to start working on my template with the sample data and layout. I can visually wrap my head around the layout better that way.

However, I'm having a problem getting my browser install to connect with MySql database. I've already gone through the "cookies don't appear to be enabled" issue. I fixed the php.ini file to reflect the session.save_path = "/tmp". That solved that issue. But, now I can't get past the database configuration.

It worked beautifully with HostGator, I just simply uploaded the zip file and extracted it on the server. The browser worked perfect. Powweb doesn't allow ftp of a compressed file.

I'm really getting exhausted. Been working on this for two weeks. And reading posts on the Joomla.org, Rocket Theme Forums, and the Powweb forums.

I use PowWeb and haven't had any problems.

      Create a DB

      Upload the zipped file.

Go to your CP > Archive Gateway

      Browse to the zipped file.

      Extract it to htdocs.

Browse to the index.php and you should be all set.

    • Thank you so much. I'm trying that right now. I'll let you know how it works.

    • Thank you for your help. I was successful with the installation. And also learned what was causing problems. In the Host Address, the installation recommends that you use "localhost" however, Croc Hunter set me straight on that: username.powwebmysql.com. that was the ticket for me. I can't thank you all enough.

    • I just wanted to share the info as a whole what worked for me for anyone who might have the same issues. The following are the replies from Rocket Theme and Powweb forums.

I suggest you make a phpsessions folder outside of you htdocs folder and use your full path found on the OPS php.ini page for the session.save_path eg:

      session.save_path = /home/users/web/b1234/pow.username/phpsessions

Then double check the MySQL info you are putting into the installer. You can find this info on your OPS> Services> MySQL page, eg:

      Host address: username.powwebmysql.com (not localhost)
MySQL username: username you set when creating the database
MySQL password: password you set when creating the database
Database name: the name you gave your database
      MySQL table prefix: jos_
Keep the Install Sample Data tick box ticked

Make sure you don't have any spaces around the info you enter. Enter your admin info and install. Once installed delete the installation folder.
