I've put down quite a few Erdinger's myself...good stuff.
Two others I favor are Paulaner and Maisel's Weisse....ganz gut!
...but normally we drink our good ol' favorite 'table beer': Karlsburg Ur Pilz and Bitburger.

Following up on "popular" beers you don't find in the home country. In three years living in Germany I only saw Becks on the base - never on the road from Munich to Heidelberg. The best Budweiser (Budvar / Czeckvar) was from (at the time) Czechoslovakia and now available in the US as Czeckvar.
Miss the Heefes, fortunately we can get some good-decent Heffeweizen brewed in the US these days.
Forgot template release day is really just an excuse to discuss beer.

- @Linesiders. I was in Mannheim for 2 years. I was friends with one of the local brewers we got all our beer for free all the time. I am spelling it wrong but Id love a fresh crystalweizen right bout now

I lived in Vanuatu for a few years and the local brewer made an ice chilled brew which was a good drop but alcohol percentage wasn't very consistant. It as supposed to be 4.7 but could be much higher. Not a good thing for the local Ni Vanuatu people who due to their low fat diet could get quite pissed on only a few stubbies.
They have since gotten more consistant, and the little brewery make a weiss beer anda few others apparently with a strong european influence due the the brewmaster normally coming from Holland or surrounding countries. - Freebies and discounts for Australians
