    • It's all the slideshow transitions. if you are concerned just change the transition to the crossfade one, it doesn't take much processing power.

    • Thanks for the suggestion and glad to know there is a cure.

I know it can be crucial to the presentation of the template that you guys "showoff" all the features and functions.

    • Great job on Reflex, it is very sexy - I can't wait to use it.

RokGallery looks fantastic as well - we can never have enough gallery extensions to fill all the specific needs of different sites, and this one looks great.

The template as it stands separate from RokGallery is not very impressive. It would appear that the development focus has been on the extension rather than the template.

For those of us who own and are proficient in Photoshop where is the value this month? There are quite a few (free) gallery extensions. Outside of backend image cropping... whats new?

I'm sorry I have to ask, just how much do you value a great image gallery solution?

Well let me know when you are finished.

I read through your 1-man thread that you felt obligated to link here. I see that you are using Maelstrom. Like you, I thought Maelstrom's front page was a very innovative way to display images. And it didn't delay the release by a week or require any new extensions. Unfortunately I don't share your enthusiasm for the new template, or maybe the hype just had my expectations too high. I do like the new gallery. Its neat, but it really has a lot more value to someone who doesn't know their way around their own image editing software. The best part about it (I guess) would be not having to hold a client's hand for uploading and maintaining their own images. BUT WAIT... then who is it for? The experienced developers that have been with RocketTheme for years? Or the the inexperienced website owner? ... you know, our clients.

Sometimes I think I am the only one that sees the writing on the wall. Or maybe I'm just a bitter pessimist.

So anyways MJ... on a professional (personal) note; I took a look at the Nice Carvings site and read your inquiries about image SEO.
      A couple things.
      1) The next time your mouse starts to drift up to layers > layer effects and you start clicking on every option (bevel, emboss, outer glow, inner glow, drop shadow), take a moment and count to ten. Then try using just one (or maybe none). An old typography/design rule is "only change one aspect of a typeface at a time". Using five different fonts in seven different colors with 27 effects is just a dead giveaway of weak design and a designer that is leaning on the software rather than skill.
      2) If you are concerned with SEO do it yourself. Go through your site article by article, image by image and tag by tag. For goodness sake don't get lazy and try what you have there: http://www.suchmaschinen-optimierung-seo.org UGH! Be careful!
      3) If you have spent hour upon hour in the extensions library, as you say, looking for just the right image gallery (to lean on) then you should have found the one I still consider to be the best... good ol' http://demo.rockettheme.com/extensions/?extension=rokslideshow

And did you know that if you use Yootheme and RT together your site will explode? :)

I gotta run, talk to you soon...

... now how do I add a drop shadow to this post before I submit??? :cheesy:

Well, lots of members develop sites and hand them off to clients who have no working knowledge of image editing software.

So, from that perspective, it's a pretty good extension, as a lot of the end users are the client, not the developer of the site.

    • Hoping for a template this month to use for a weekly newspaper design. Simple, clean, without huge spacing...
(now is the point where everyone piles on me and says that I can make a newspaper site out of any Joomla template, I know, I know...)

    • :arrowu: yeah you can use every template for a newspaper site :cheesy:

I love this time of the month. This thread pops up in the top of my list and the fun begins.

    • Well for the month of August, I am waiting for...

      my membership to expire...

so I can renew and launch my website upgrade using modulous

which I've been working on for the past month - just need to wait for it to be legal to use :cheesy:

(but of course - a cool new template could easily ruin all these best laid plans...)
