We are certainly going to look at what it will take to convert an existing fixed template to responsive. If it is something that is quite feasible without too much work, we will probably go back and do some conversions. First though we are going to be focusing on Gantry4 which we hope to get released this month.

      Andy,
After completing the monumental upgrade to Gantry 4 and if you guys determine it is possible to convert fixed templates to responsive, I'd like to offer up a suggestion. Can you guys do some polls to have the RT community vote on the most popular templates so you guys know which ones to work on first?

    • Great improvement with the responsive design. One suggestion though.

In your next termplate please consider making the menu buttons work as big buttons on the top when adapting to iPhone/Androids. The solution with the current selectable menu is not the best solution on smartphones as they tend to being too small. I speak from experience having worked a lot with responsive design for clients and the 1st complaint was exactly the navigation you use. Remember it's on small screens where people use their fingers and not a mouse ;)

Other from that great to see your embracing the future :)

    • At the moment RokNav is not ready for responsive websites.
Until the new version is ready we use the select-option.

      Your argument
"Remember it's on small screens where people use their fingers and not a mouse"
is not valid to me. The select-form-element is controlled by the browser's style sheet (we just change the color etc)
This ensures that this element is styleed by the human interface guidelines of each device.
Check my screenshot to see how it looks in the iPhone.
      It's very usable.

However the responsive version of RokNav will provide much more styling control.
It's just not an easy task to create a mobile version of a mega menu displaying modules, rows etc.

    • Try it on android. It wont be working as good as on iPhone :)

But I am looking forward to see the development the next couple of months and hope as you suggest that we the users will be able to have more control, over how things appear and work on mobile devices.

      Have a great Weekend.

    • Kirigami looks nice to me too, but what is your (your = RT) opinion about the fast development of versions Joomla. They developed 2.5 and that should be the stable one and should take it for years... Now that we are almost at the end of 2012 and Joomla again comes with 3.0 or maby even 3.5 I saw! What do we have to do? I want to make a new website for my business (wholesaler company > to show our business and I also want to attach a webshop to the new website, wich would def. be a RT template, but sometimes I don't see the business-approach in a layout, most they are quite playful and not really business related... enough about that, maby I just have to wait or become a better sitebuilder) and don't see it anymore. Maby you people from RT can help me (and maby the rest of the Joomlers) out?

ps:Keep up the good work, my English is not that good, so don't see my words as an attack, but as an addition to your good work. Greets from Holland - Amsterdam
