    • The only way to 'convert' a site from html to Joomla is to set up the Joomla site and cut and paste the content from the old site to the new one.

The first step is choosing a template that will give your client the layout they're looking for.

In all the demos, of you follow the Features > Module Positions link, it'll show you all the module positions.

Once you've decided on a template:

Add some Sections, Categories, Articles, and Menus.

If you've got a lot of content to add, the Mass Content component is a must have.

      extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...k_id,2514/Itemid,35/

I also suggest creating two databases and two installs of the template, one with the sample data, and one without.

Use the template with the sample data as a guide, and build the site using the template without the sample data, it's much easier to work with just the content you're adding to a new site.

    • Thank you for your advise JEM618,

Are you entirely sure this cannot be done, surely it would only mean changing images, say for example modifying the background images etc, adding a banner and various other on-site images, possibly using a simple template like Hivemind for example.

Ok I appreciate I've simplified the process somewhat but would that not be possible?

    • Yes and No.

It really is as simple as you say; modifying the background images etc, adding a banner and various other on-site images, and of course the content itself.

But there's no 'magic button' that will convert an html site into a Joomla site.

They're two entirely different things, with html you're editing and linking 'actual pages', with a CMS like Joomla, you're editing Articles that will be published to menus, etc. All of which are stored in the database.

So at some point, the content from the html site will have to be organized, entered into articles or modules, and then published.
