    Hyperlink issue with ROKINTROSCROLLER

    Posted 16 years 6 months ago
    • I managed to get ROK INTRO SCROLLER (RIS) to work just fine, it was pretty simple. I have set it up to just post small thumbs and a title that i set up as a NEW article in CODE view (wysiwig editor turned off).

      At first within my title I was adding an A HREF that was linking to a simple domain name, and the module was working beautifully; however, upon cutting and pasting actual links from my site (non SEF) the RIS was not working properly anymore and displaying the content not as a scroller but just all stacked up one another in SAFARI and in FF.

      I am posting my articles as such:

      <img src="images/popular/hairybastard.jpg" border="0" />
      <em><a href=" afr0jacks.com/index.php?option=com_conte...t=blog&id=4&Itemid=4 ">HAIRY MAN ON STRIKE</a></em>

      Now this does not work, and is what is distorting and making thr RIS not work right. But if i simply change the link, for ex.

      <img src="images/popular/hairybastard.jpg" border="0" />
      <em><a href=" afr0jacks.com/ ">HAIRY MAN ON STRIKE</a></em>

      This works just fine, and I have attached two screenshots to show the difference. My question is, what is happening and why cant I use a LINK as in the first sample, it is very important as it will link to a page that is relevant.

      Please help, I am totally at a lost, thanks.

    • So do all internal Joomla links cause that issue?

    • Yes... I am thinking that maybe because the links are either long or contain so many symbols, it is confusing the sytem into thinking its additional code, or its breaking the code in the way its intended to be.

      I just figured out how to access my GLOBAL CONFIGURATION and now have SEF links, I am hoping this will help. I still see "index.php" in my link address, is this something APACHE will fix, or I guess the proper question is --- what does APACHE REWRITE do?

    • Ok I figured it out --- I set up the SEF and I set up the APACHE rewrite, all links are now super clean. So the problem still existed, it seemed that it would only accept short links. But when I removed the ITALICS code, <em> it worked with the long links just fine.

      For some odd reason, that I am not aware of, the <em> was not allowing the long links to work in RIS. Well as usual my obsessive compulsive nature prevails, and I was able to figure it out. As always thanks for getting back to me.

    • JAMES!!! ARGH!!! Just when you thought it was safe, it returns!!! THE ATTACK OF THE CRAZY RIS!!!

      Ok so that simple adjustment, helped fix things on SAFARI, but now the stacking issue is appearing on FF and IE. I am now definitely at a loss.

      1. Am I posting the code correctly when posting an article?
      2. If so, what do you suggest, I am at a loss

      Please help me obi-wan-kenobi, you're my only hope!

    • I fixed it again on my own... The initial adjustment as posted here in this thread, was removing the <em> for italics --- this for some odd reason was causing the module to not work correctly.

      That adjustment fixed the issue on SAFARI, but then it messed up the RIS in FF and IE. I was honestly baffled and then began playing with the preview length --- I initially had it 150 which worked fine, but then after this issue I adjusted it to 145. The preview is only relevant to the titles that I use... Well it worked, it now looks fine on IE7, FF3 and SAFARI.

      Any ideas why this was giving me so many problems?

    • Hi all,

      Looks like I'm having a similar problem to Marcus, though with a small difference: I'm using SEF. My introscroller is breaking on to two and three lines. I am creating separate articles (for introscroller) using the appropriate code, and all the pictures are linking to articles on the site. I try changing the creation and publishing dates, but this has no effect. I want to create 80+ articles for the introscroller, but will look for a fix before I go to much further.

      Using latest RocketLauncher for Infuse (Joomla 1.5.15), but had the demo content removed before I saw James helpful tips (won't do that again). Had it working okay when the articles were just pictures. I realised I could add hyperlinks, and things went strange. Tried to reverse it, and it didn't make any difference.

      SOLUTION (after too many hours of fiddling): Reviewed code and discovered (assisted in part by Firebug) too many </div>. Make note to self: double-check code

      Michael

    • Has anyone found a consistent fix to the problem of stacked items with rok intro? I love the idea of the rockintro scroller but the two times I've tried to use it I've battled stacked, vertical items constantly and right now I can NOT figure out how to prevent it from stacking on the latest implementation. My client really wants this capability. Here's the link but I'm actively working on it so you may not see it depending on what I'm doing to try to fix it (or find a substitute to achieve the same thing). I've been trying different classes, different divs, I've totally removed links just to see if I could get images to be horizontal at all, etc... Could really use some help! dayconstructionasheville.com/
