    • Hi, JEM,

A workaround would be okay for perhaps people with experience with this RocketLauncer issue. But newbies (and not so-newbies like me who are used to the way Zip files usually work) can become baffled and frustrated with a package that is supposed to a timesaver and creates that subfolder when extracting the zip online with Cpanel or similar filemanager (sorry to hear about Plesk).

I tried installing the RocketLauncher 2-3 times via Cpanel (having to delete the installation each time) thinking that maybe I did something wrong. I tried uploading the zip below the root, for example, I tried other approaches before I finally realized I had to create my own zip file to do it the way one would expect a zip file to work.

If a person is not active on this forum they would not know about any workaround, and if they are using the popular CPANEL to extract their files they would most likely go through the same frustrating and time wasting experience I had with RocketLauncher.

Seems zipping it up via a PC should solve the problem and make everyone's busy life happy :) We should not be using a workaround when the Rockettheme folks can easily make this fix. This is in a sense a "bug" and it should be fixed like any other bug issue.

      Thanks

      Rowby

I did the same thing ;) I was like ??? ??? ??? WTF is going on? ??? ??? ??? I was like where did it go? Didn't I just unzip it? Not realizing it was in the folder of the same name as the zip. This is what made it worse...I had did a joomla install/unzip first, then decided to replace it with RT Rocketlauncher instead, so, I kept unzipping RT RocketLuancher to overwrite the previous files and then trying to get the installation to work in the browser, not realizing that as I repeated it again and again, all was doing was overwriting the RT folder (which was out of view on the screen - didn't even notice it the first 3x I tried) and not overwriting the joomla install. LMAO - Live and learn.

As for newbies - I agree with Rowby - the easier the better and having been a serious newbie personally myself...I would recommend that RocketTheme.com follows suit with Joomla.org and insure the zip files are the same for consistency and standardization sake. Unless, you want me to write Joomla and try to convince them to follow suit with you guys. :P ::) I will give it whirl, but I don't know if they will listen - I can try and plead. :P

    • Well the workaround is this, if you have a PC rather than a Mac.

Extract the files locally to a folder, and create a new zip file.

Using your hosting's file manager (such as the File Manager in Hostgator) uploads the file to the root directory and then extract the files.

Again, hopefully instead of having to do this workaround, it would be better if Rocketheme create its zip files using the same zip system that Joomla.org uses. That would save its' subscribers, confusion, bafflement, bewildelrment, fear, self-loathing, and potential suicides. :P

      Regards
