    Using Firebug

Posted 16 years 5 months ago
    • Hi all - several people here have recommended the use of "Firebug". I have installed and played around with it. i notice that I can see a problem on my page (Tribune) i.e. the logo not showing properly. I can change the px count in Firebug which then shows the fix / change on the page. Is there a way to save these changes or do I always have to make these changes in the actual index control file.

    • Hi Amandeep,

Thanks for your reply. I'm still at localhost stage. i noticed just after i posted, that James has a Firebug help link in his signature. I've had a quick look and will report back on my success (or not) :cheesy:

    • FireBug is a debugging tool that’s used with FireFox. It allows you to make ‘changes’ on a live site and see how they look. Once you figure out what changes need to be made, you have to go into the proper files and make the actual changes. You can’t make actual changes to the css, etc. with it.

When I first started using it I though, 'What a pain in the neck, now I have to go to that file and make the change... geez....'

      But...

      A) It helps yo find what needs to be changed and lets you preview it.
      B) Can you imaging what the Web would be like if we could all go around changing sites to our heart's content with FireBug? :)
