    • Hey there RocketTheme Folks!,

Happy new year and all that jazz! So I have a site that is using one of your themes I purchased back in April and would like to do a face lift with a newer one.

How do I set up the new template and migrate all the information over, While keeping the structure of the new template?

or point me to the section of the forum that has this information

      Thanks in advance.

      Peace
      Phil

    • Install the new template, then assign it as default. You have nothing to migrate, but you need to move your modules according to the module positions of the new template, arrange your menus items, etc.

    • Yes, that's right.

The template has all the Modules in the index.php.

Some Module positions may have to be added to the Module Manager, the ones that are not native to Joomla, but that's easy to do.

Extensions > Module Manager > New > Custom HTML, or the type of Module that needs to be added.

In the Position field, if the Module doesn't exist, click in the Position field and type the name of the position, for example, 'inset' or banner4'.

You'll also need to install the extensions which can be downloaded from the template files.
    • Thanks,

    • RocketLauncher includes a FULL Joomla install, in addition to the template and demo contents. The Joomla installation process is necessary in creating the demo content, therefore RocketLauncher will only work properly as a new Joomla installation. It can not be used on an existing Joomla installation.

I am looking at the mixxmag; it is that that main dynamic interface which I think is called the rocketlauncher, so there isnt a way to install that?

    • If you have an existing install, use the template file and the extensions, not the Rocket Launcher.

      Mixxmag Template

NOTE: Joomla 1.5 Native Version. Mixxmag is the first of our dedicated 1.5 only templates, using the full power of the Joomla 1.5 framework. The amazing template override facility is in full effect, combining our recurrent tableless template design with tableless overrides of the Joomla core.

      Mixxmag Extensions

Custom Joomla 1.5 Extensions for the Mixxmag template release including the New RokFeature Extension and the RokMiniNews Extensions.

      Mixxmag RocketLauncher

This package contains a full Joomla 1.5.8 install as well as the Mixxmag template and demo sample content allowing you to easily deploy a perfect copy of the Mixxmag demo site with a few clicks. (Only for use as a NEW Joomla install).

    • I truly apologize for being a slightly lost here. So what i see in the demo of mixxmag I can just upload the template and whatever extensions come with it, and make my exisiting joomla 1.5 Chromatophore look like mixxmag demo except with my content even with the that fancy big dynamic module on the main page?

my site is pretty big in the sense that I close to 13,500 members growing and I want to be able to take the site down for a few days and give it a complete overhaul. I really like that mixxmag and I want to duplicate the look but with my content (including the fancy dynamic picture thing on the home page ....me being technical lol) If I cant, then essentially it just becomes a standard 3 column joomla website with some fancy colors and I might as well leave mine how it is.

I really hope this makes sense and once again I TOTALLY appreciate your patience.

      Peace
      Phil

    • Hi Phil,

When you apply a template to an existing install you really have to shuffle things around.

The template Module positions vary as do the extensions that each has.

In your case, Chromataphore has a tabbed slider for adverts1-5 at the top of the page, Mixxmag has RokFeature and also RokMiniNews.

So when you apply the template it's not a matter of one click and the template is 'magically transformed' from one to the next. :)

      >>>> including the fancy dynamic picture thing on the home page <<<<

You have to install the extensions, configure them, then publish your content to them.

E.g., the tabbed slider in Chromataphore is for Modules, RokFeature and also RokMiniNews are for Articles pulled from Sections and Categories.

If you have that many members, it may be better for you to set up Mixxmag in a subdomain and move your content bit by bit to the new template and when your satisfied, switch to the new site.
    • Thanks,

    • ok, it's been a while since I have been here asking questions. this is related to my posting above.

Is there an easy way to install the sample data on a freshly installed joomla that was installed via cpanel and then apply the theme? i am assuming that the package you provide is the same joomla install as the one you get from cpanel. I hope this makes sense.

      Thanks
