There was an excellent post that I'd bookmarked on the old RT site that instructed how to hide menu items. I've done a search, but can't seem to find it.
Basically, it involved adding some code into the template.css file.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

...not sure which template you are using, but for HiveMind, I simply added the following to hide the 'Home' menu item:
#horiz-menu li.item1 { display: none; }
Perhaps play with some combinaton thereof for your menu items.
