Don't they have a plugin to allow you to put the form/fields directly in content? ..been awhile since I played with anything other than Fabrik, so not sure...this one is above my pay-grade, sir. ;)

Now if you needed help with the Fabrik plugin that allows you to do this, I could push you in the right direction...but not well-versed with jForms anymore.

From my investigations, it definitely appears that Fabrik has way more power than Jforms. The Fabrik Web site shows incredible capabilities to use elements. But when I installed Fabrik, I was completely confused about even the simplest thing -- like where in the world are the elements (text area, check box, etc)? The Fabrik help forum just confused me more, as no one there seems to be talking the same language. My sense is, Fabrik is for people with way more programming skills than I have.

I'm running Jforms now, as it does seem to allow me to get a form done, the elements are right there, and the data that comes in through the forms is easily accessible. But it does not make it easy to create "attractive" forms.

      Terp,
Check the documentation or post in the developer's forum.

Most form components offer the option for both.

For example, in RS!Forms, by placing the code {rsform 1} in an Article, 'form 1' is loaded into the Article, using {rsform 2} loads 'form 2', etc.

Thanks for the tip. I did post in the developer's forum, but no one answered. It's not a very active forum.

    • JForms?

      DL the RSForm! trial.

With the trial, you place forms in Articles.

To place them in Modules, you need to purchase it and download the plugin.

      JEM,
Thanks for the note. I tried out RSForms but did not use it long enough to see everything.

What stops me is that you have to buy it to see the full functionality. But maybe the regular version is good enough for me, since I don't need something too complicated?

If the free version allows me to embed forms in articles, then I would take another look at RDForms.

      Thanks,
      Matthew

    • The free trial is fully functional except for the Module plug-in.

The only limitation of the trial is the 'this is a free trial message', and the source code, which you probably don't have to edit while you're checking it out, is encrypted.

    • JEM,
I really like the way RSform works. However...

The free trial does not allow the form to be embedded in an article. To do that, it seems you need to install their "mosforme" enhancement, which is only available with the Pro version.

At the moment, based on all that I am learning, Jforms is moving way up the ladder! Jforms is still in its early phases (version 0.6). But it is amazing how easy they have made things.

If I could only figure out how to embed Jforms in articles, it would be perfect.

      Thanks,
      Matthew

    • KO,
Yes, I saw that (I'm on their mailing list).

As I have looked more closely at various forms extensions, I have been increasingly impressed with Jforms. I really like the ideas he is implementing and I believe this will be one of the strongest forms applications out there very soon.

However, the developer posted it in TAR format instead of ZIP, so I can't install it!

      Thanks,
      Matthew
