Just curious... what do you mean by 'jomsocial' theme?
ve tried all of the available community components and nothing is more solid that JomSocial
I'd like to see a list of those if you care to share. My personal experience with JomSocial has not been pleasant, but I may operate differently than others. .

      James

I tried Community Builder, JCommunity (commercial version), and Joomunity. In my opinion, none have come close to what JomSocial has provided us.

I purchased JomSocial a few months ago for a site I run from home, and then last week, I purchased for my office to build a customer community. I didn't experience the early communication and support problems you describe, or perhaps I would feel as you describe. However, I still don't think we of the Joomla world have any better options today where social community building is concerned.

      Regards,
      HL

    • lets face it .. if the team of jomsocial keeps on improving it, more ppl will get a copy and in no time it will be one of the most popular joomla component

and that would leave no options for our lovely rocketheme team but building a template for it

    • I was 100% convinced that the March Template was going to be a JomSocial template.. I was totally disappointed to see what they offered up.

    • I have started to examine the templates and to be honest, it is not difficult to integrate them fully with your site. For myself I am altering the jomsocial template to completely integrate with the meridian template, so it keeps also the functionality of the RT template.
It is just a lot of work to get it done. If you really want to have a jomsocial template, just take an RT template and adjust the jomsocial template files.

Have seen a lot of them, the quality really sucks, but that is just my opinion.

    • I have been thoroughly examining the jomsocial templates, trying to completely integrate it into the Meridian RT template, I made some nice progress, but then I found out that well, seamless integration is very hard, to say the least. Why? Well for one thing, the jomsocial frontpage is just a simple example, it is not a tableless design (most parts of jomsocial are not, although we have seen tableless designs everywhere). The search mod is integrated into the frontpage and that is not only the case for the search mod. The different "modules" in the jomsocial app are not built up modularly, which is a big dissapointment to me. Furthermore, jomsocial uses different javascript libraries, among which jQuery, which drives its main menu and other functionality. To me this is illogical, joomla comes with mootools, so why use another javascript library, it only causes problems when trying for seamless integration. I totally recoded the menu to match the meridian roknavmenu, to find that well, I loose functionality because of jQuery.
Building a good template for jomsocial practically requires you to recode the whole template system and menu system from scratch and if you want to do a really good job, recode parts of the core.
You can do a lot with css, but that just not cut it. Jomsocial may be labeled joomla 1.5 native, but if you really know what that means, then I would say it is not, a lot of components/modules/plugins just match the template it's css, jomsocial does only sometimes and very rarely, and when it does, it looks like crap  .
Anyway, I will not give up my efforts yet, here are two screenshots of what I managed so far.
