    • Hi to All,

I just installed the Joomla, afterwards the phpbb3,jfusion,syncing of users, and lastly the Community Builder,
after the installation, when I log in at the joomla site and go to the link of the phpbb3, my session at the phpbb3 was not created. I dont know what is the problem as of now.Thats why Im posting my concerns here..
And when I set this kind of option in Jfusion Plug in Editor
Display linked URLs in and set it into
display direct link and display direct link inside Joomla
      it gets an error
and when you display it in a wrapper it works fine

      Any help would greatly appreciated!

      Many Thanks,

      dolbelize

    • Jfusion was made to work with a wrapper, to provide for visual integration.I suggest you also take a look at Rokbridge. Provides the same functionality, but not through a wrapper, there is user integration, no visual integration. That is why RT created the phpbb3 styles club, to also achieve visual integration, but in phpbb3 native mode. To make sure about the wrapped mode post the question in Jfusion forum too.

Mind telling me who told you that?

@ dolbelize: You could try out RT styles or probably go for what is knows as 'frameless' mode created by the JFusion team. It basically puts your phpBB Forum into Joomla! Here is a great example of them in action

      You just did.Imran Ali wrote:

      Question asked and answered

      Taken from the jfusion site:
......the Joomla frame is only loaded once, after which only your integrated software is loaded for each click inside the wrapper........
..........Visual integration with this method is poor due to the browser incompatibilty of the wrapper................
BTW, just to make sure, do you have a problem reading? You quote very selectively (I sort of follow your lead in this thread). It also says to check that at the Jfusion forum whether I am right or not. Maybe your memory is too short?
I have seen several complaints about the product you so willingly advertise, you a stockholder or something? Aha, now I got it, you are one of the people working on it, which immediately leads me to question the quality of the product, since your reading skills are IMHO under average. Which is not only shown by your post here but also through not knowing the contents of the jfusion site (see the quote above).

@ dolbelize: You want a great example of Rokbridge in action?
Well, you are looking at it right now, under your nose :cheesy: I would advise against Jfusion and RT styles, jfusion breaks the styles. See their website on that.

    • You are one really funny guy Roeland. :D I love chatting with you even if it is just passively via forums. Thanks for making my day by this really long laugh that I just had.

I never alleged anything against RokBridge and it would be great if you do not let me start on it. I have stopped commenting against such projects. I think users have the opportunity to check out what they are getting into

      extensions.joomla.org/extensions/3723/details

Can anybody tell me as to where is RokBridge on the JED?

@ dolbelize: JFusion breaks nothing. In fact it uses half the server resources as some 'other' bridges. There are infinite people using JFusion with RT styles like me. :) Plus there is a Search and Discuss Bot coming up soon i.e. in the next release. Over it a User Sync, username filtering etc. are already there. As for the CB Connection here is a thread for you

      jfusion.org/index.php/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=2154

@ Roeland: If 168 Votes(4.5+/5) and 76 great reviews cannot convince you, I really cannot be of any help.

    • I think what's going on here is that a LOT of hard work goes into many of these projects and it's very easy to find a product that you put time into and then want to stick with it wherever you go. I have a few ideas as to where some of this "rivalry" between JFusion and RokBridge may have come from, but I think it's on it's way out the door for most and for those leading each project, I don't think it was ever there to begin with...they know this is the open source world and have probably traded tips and hints before.

As for what's going on with each system and what is better...both can win. Each one has a different goal in mind and achieves a different outcome. The only time someone needs to choose, is when they are figuring out what they need out of the system.

JFusion is a larger code base that covers syncing between more systems and is working on adding more features. If you're linking several things together and need something to handle it, this is probably the one for you. If you want to try integrating the look of your site in a wrapper fashion (don't get hung up on specifics, I was vague here for a reason), then this might be the one to try as well. JFusion also has the ability to go back and sync already existing users through the admin backend.

The JFusion downside, it's Alpha (maybe just into Beta) stage and issues lots of fixes and code changes regularly. This has been argued both ways, but ultimately, it shows that it's a larger system with more pieces to keep track of. This is all fine and well, but be sure to keep up with updates as many changes are made regularly.

RokBridge is a much slimmer code base and has a more specific goal, linking the users of Joomla and phpBB3. RokBridge syncs users at registration and works both ways. It is not a "master/slave" set up like JFusion is, so your users are actually in each systems database when they register and log in. RokBridge is very close to stable and a very solid component. It's easy to install and is reliable.

The RokBridge downside, it works with Joomla and phpBB3 only. This is only a downside if you're using something else. This isn't really a downside though if it does everything you need it to and you're running Joomla and phpBB3.

In short, think of JFusion as the Swiss Army Knife version that has plenty of extras and additions and RokBridge is that great reliable knife when what you really need is a knife and one that works well.

Personally, I've used both on the same website before and am very happy they both exist. I installed JFusion, synced my existing userbase then uninstalled it and installed RokBridge to be the workhorse that handles everything from here on out. I needed both to do it.

Last thing, the question here is that you are using JFusion and something isn't working right with the sessions. This is a log in question that is a JFusion issue and shouldn't really have anything to do with a template. If something is said to be a template issue here, it's most likely due to the template being asked to accomplish something it was never intended to do, like work another system in a wrapper. I'd ask over at JFusion and you should be able to find more troubleshooting tips there anyways.

As for the easy way to remember this, it doesn't matter what type of Hotrod you have, it's only going to be fast if you put the right gas in the tank. Don't use Diesel if Unleaded is what's called for.

    • @ prim: I obviously have tested RokBridge. Just haven't been able to find it over at the JED. :(

@ Ben: Thank you so much for a clean and neat post. You sure have put it really nicely for everybody to understand. Happy belated Birthday. :D
