If I wanted to create a joomla site that offers coupons like this one...
www.couponcabin.com
What components/modules would I need? Basically just for a local paper to advertise for local businesses and allow the local businesses to have coupons displayed on the site...
Any ideas would be greatly helpful.. I wanted to put together a site targeted at local small businesses.
Thanks Lee, I checked out nBill... Its a payment gateway, which is cool but what I need is some form of modification of OpenRealty, or a modified version of mosets?
Basically, like a coupon repository (coolsavings.com) where merchants who run ads in the magazine can post online counterparts of their coupons...
Possibly, but that would be handled externally with ad insertions, not necessarily a function needed on the website... Basically it just comes with their ad insertion package for the newspaper...
Here's a good coupon site that has some nice features for inspiration:
www.retailmenot.com/
I like how they have the onMouseover for the codes, copies to the clipboard, and fires the affiliate window...nice. And the 'Did this coupon work for you' yes/no counter is a nice touch, too.
The ad insertion COULD be automatic, but it would have to tie in with a quickbooks database or whatever so for now, no... I am guessing they could register on the site with a code, and then post their coupons?
The BEST way to do it, as always, is to hire someone who knows what they're doing to create something to your specification. You're looking for something VERY specific - which means even if you do find something that comes close to resembling something that you MAY consider thinking about using, you're going to be stuck with a bunch of overhead and functionality that may or may not get out of the way of your final goal.
It's a commercial project - treat it with the respect it deserves.
