Displaying different main menu to registered users

Posted 16 years 3 months ago
    • Right now registered members see all the non-registered menu items as well as the registered member only menu items.

What I need to do is have a completely different main menu for registered and non-registered so most of the non-registered menu items do not appear for registered members.

The reason is that this is for a Membership site where the menu for non-members consists of items pointing to articles giving reasons why they should subscribe. Once they have subscribed and logged in, the do not need to see the original articles any more - only the menu items relevant to members.

      Thanks.

    • Thanks for showing me MetaMod Jim - what an awesome Module - installed it immediately for other purposes.

However - in Versatility 4 which I am using, the Main Menu - as configured from the Menu screens - is not a module. It seems to be hard coded to what appears to be the Toolbar position which is located across the top.

If I enable the mainmenu module it is published to whatever position I specify, containing the same items as the actual Main Menu, but I suspect if I unpublished all my existing Main Menu items, created new menu module, added the items and published it to the Toolbar position, I would lose the menu bar which is a graphic not a hilite.

I hope that makes sense, but the upshot seems to be that my actual Main Menu on the top menu bar is not something I can switch on and off and/or replace with modules as far as I can tell.
