    • Hi Ragdata

      cheers for the quick reply.

If I use sh404SEF or a similar extension, will this create title and meta tags for "all" pages or can I specify to create them just for the pages I referred to earlier (ie category pages etc).

If I have to create for all pages, do I have to delete all the existing tags on the pages that currently have satisfactory title and meta tags. I read somewhere (although this could be referring to a different extension) that if I do not delete existing tags, i will end up with duplicate ones. I really don't want to have to delete them anyway.

On a general note about SEO extensions, I assume with keyword creation they select the most commonly occurring terms on the page. Is it possible to prevent them from selecting words like "the" and "from" etc, words that have no relevance. Also, how do they generate the description tag? Is this also created using the most commonly occuring words? Does it create a "coherent" and "well structured" description or just a random collection of keywords strung together.

      Thanks again
      Paul

    • Hi Paul,

I think the best people to answer most of your questions would be the developers of that component. I can tell you that you can selectively configure which pages get left alone, which pages have tags generated automatically, and which ones you do manually. I'm not sure how well the automatic generation does because I never use it - I like to make CERTAIN that my tags are exactly how I want them to be. This particular component is working REALLY well for the clients I've installed it for.
