    Quote rotator?

Posted 16 years 2 months ago
    • Can any of the RT extensions be easily modified as a "quotation rotator" for use with Versatility 4?

All I need to do is rotate textual quotes dynamically - i.e. without refreshing the page - without images, links etc.

I have looked around the JED but not found anything suitable.

      Thanks.

    • Not an RT Module, not free but it's what I use: 2J News Slider

    • Thanks. Looks like a great module which I may well purchase anyway.

"Free" is never an issue for me. If I need a component and it fulfils my requirements I will pay for it - in fact I currently use more commercial extensions than free ones.

On this though, 2J News Slider is way over the top. I simply need to dynamically rotate a few lines of text in the user 1 or 2 position.

    • IMO, it may seem that it's 'over the top' for what you want to do, but after fiddling with RT extensions and may other to do exactly what you want to do, five minutes after I installed it the job I'd been tinkering with for over a week was done.

Yes I agree there. Actually I can use it for other functions as well, and replace my static news module, so I will purchase it anyway.

It is odd though when we can easily obtain all these powerful extensions, free or commercial, yet it is the simplest things - even ones you see on static sites - that there are no extensions for.

I am currently having to develop one for my membership site to provide a function that I regard as fundamental, but no one at all seems to have even considered.

At least 1.6 will finally have ACL's hopefully.

All part of the Joomla fun :) Wouldn't have it any other way.

    • I love it.

Honestly, I only use it to rotate some advertising hooks, but it does exactly what I want.

With so many easily customizable options, I'm sure I'll have other uses for it in the future.

      Glad you like it! 8)
