    paid access to submission form??

Posted 16 years 2 months ago
    • Hi, trying do get the right setup to allow users, to pay and then have access to a certain part of site, where they can submit a file (form).

What we are doing is letting people submit a 500 word essay along with a $50.00 entry fee to win a home. My customer is trying to do two things:

      1. Pay off bank. (they are hoping to get a few thousand entries so they get enough funds to pay the bank, I checked It's legal :)
      2. Someone gets a house for $50.00

Going to use paypal for gateway,
Any suggestions on what to usefor a cart, or community??

      I figure:
The customer reads all rules, then decides to enter (pay fee) and joins the web contest (site).
They then get access to area via user name & password that has submission form.

Since user submitting the essay (form) may need time to complete the 500 word essay, maybe it would be easier to allow them to create the account, and then give them some instructions that they should use their word processing program to create and edit story, then paste into submission form in the next few minutes, hours, days, etc..

      Any ideas?
      Thank you,
      Randy

    • Simplistic approach:

All areas except the form are public.

To join, users must pay to register, once they pay and become registered, they have access to the form.

So you'll need some type of paid membership / registeration component, and a good form component to go along with it.

    • Thanks, I actually started reading this one last night. I just didn't want to do 20 hours work, and then have it not work, and then read... If you want to do this, then get CB, with this extra mod, ....and then your done!

I always take the long road, and thought I'd see what other's had done.
I don't mind the work, it's just sometimes, I think I can get something to work, when it just won't happen, I and don't know it won't happen.

Thank you for your responses, I appreciate it.
Hope all is well in Japan.
      Sincerely,
      Randy
