    Articles by default on frontpage?

Posted 16 years 2 months ago
    • Few questions...

How can I make all articles from all categories to show on frontpage by default?

What can I do to let my registered visitors write articles and publish them automatically?

I was using JA Submit, but on Joomla 1.5.9 that component is not supported. Is there a replacement component for JA Submit?

      Thank you!

    • 1.) Do you want want every article to show up all the time, or do you want something that displays the latest articles from each category?

2.) All you have to do is create a menu link to an article submit page and allow them access to it. Go to main menu>New> and choose article submission for the type of page you want it to link to...then you just have to change the settings to allow them to publish automatically.

    • 1. I have a lot of categories and registered users are writing the content. I would like to show all those posts (articles) like the latest on the frontpage. I hope you understand me.

      2. This option works just for authors and above. By default my users are registered (few thousands) and new ones keep commin! How can I make them all authors by default, or how can I make that submission system to let registered users to post?

If something is not clear, please let me know so I will try to explain.

      Thank you!

    • I believe there is a setting (maybe under global parameters) to make all users "authors" automatically. If you can't find it, let me know - I'll look more into it.

    • I have made all user authors but with an MySql snippet. I couldn't change existing users to authors at once. Only one by one.

And there's an option to make all FUTURE users automatically as authors.
      ............

About the "Latest". Yes, I would like to show all latest articles on frontpage. Just like that module "Latest", but on frontpage....Last article comes first etc...

Do you know how to do that?

      Thank you

    • You could use this from terra tribune:

      RokMiniNews
RokMiniNews is a powerful module to display your articles, perfect for news and media sites. It is highly configurable and is javascript enabled to allow for user interaction. A truly versatile extension.

We will take a quick look at the parameters you will find when you install this module.

      1. Title: Hide
      2. Position: We recommend the newsflash position.
      3. Access level: Public
      4. Published: Yes
      5. Ordering: Determines which appears first, controlled by the creation or modification date of the article
      6. Preview Length: This is the number of characters loaded in the module.
      7. Frontpage items: Show or Hide
      8. Default # of Articles: Select either 0, 5, 10 and 15 as the default option on load.
      9. Section: Choose which Section to pull your stories from.
      10. Module Class Suffix and Cache: Most will leave empty by default.
      11. Extra Module CSS Class: Adds a class to the module to allow for custom styling, such as colour.
      12. Use Custom CSS: The Module can be set to not load the template's styling if you want to use a custom appearance/theme.

      Demo Setup
On the demo, you will see we have 6 blocks of content. These are all individual installs of RokMiniNews. To copy and setup this module, follow the steps below:-

      1. Login into the Administrator
      2. Navigate to the Module Manager
      3. Find your install of RokMiniNews in the list
      4. Tick the box to the left of the Module's title in the list
      5. Click the Copy button in the top right of the Module Manager
      6. Now setup the new copied RokMiniNews
      7. Ensure the module is assigned to the same position as its clone to have the javascript move effect (we use newsflash on the demo)
