So I've been thinking....Does RT suggest loading divs and or modules in a different order for SEO? Basically moving the main content higher up the page so that the spiders read that fist.
If so, could this just be changed by re-ordering the div or module positions in the XML file?

No - it couldn't be changed by altering the XML file.
It really comes down to the way you utilise the different elements of your template. I find that the RT templates perform quite well from an SEO point of view, of course, this depends entirely on how you employ the individual elements available to you.

Hi Ragdata,
Yes I know they already do well, but it would still be better (IMHO) :cheesy: if main content div is loaded first or at least before left/right divs. Know what I mean?

I do know what you mean - but consider this from a templater's point of view. Descriptive links contribute better 'points' towards your ranking than plain text. These are usually contained either in a top bar or side bar, so these need to be loaded first ... unless of course you decide not to put your menu in a side column, in which case they need to be loaded after the main content as they will in this case contain 'junk' content. It would be (and is) absolutely impossible to keep everyone happy with every template from this point of view.
RT Templates are designed to work well in the majority of situations - you could recode your template (and it would take a COMPLETE recode in order to maintain the design in all situations) ... but really, you'd be better off spending the money that would take on a well-structured PPC campaign or by purchasing some highly-converting media space on other sites.
An effective backlinking strategy, selected paid media, a good SEF component (in the case of Joomla) and QUALITY content to begin with are going to have more impact on your rankings than the order in which your content is loaded. Concentrate on the important things, and it simply won't matter which template you use in the end.
Research, research, research. The bottom line is that if you need to resort to techniques like changing the order in which content is loaded to get a site ranking well, you either haven't done enough RESEARCH to begin with, or haven't kept your finger on the pulse along the way.

Ragdata,
Don't get overly offended or defensive. Was simply pointing out one aspect. Additionally with the concept of first link priority being able to arrange the divs could prove useful in certain situations.

Key point there is that it is a "technique" and a white hat one at that. I understand all the other concepts you bring up as well. No need to lecture to the choir.

Who's getting defensive? Merely pointing out the futility of the idea when you're using a template-driven system like Joomla in conjunction with pre-constructed templates like those here at RT. Sure, you could build a template from the ground-up ... but why?? The technique provides marginal benefit (if any at all in some instances) in return for a large amount of work ... it comes down to simple cost-benefit analysis.
