This is my first post as member. I just finished working my butt of on a site. After much pain today and several 1.59 problems I am ready to go from my local host.
Can someone tell me what files are required on the servers to make all my develmopment work? I have 1.59 ialready nstalled and surely I don't have to upload everything I developled locally on WAMP again. What folders are required?
Depends what you've developed. If the changes you made are only in the template, upload the template, images and database. If there are any additional components, you'll need to upload everything relating to those and there could be admin + front-end elements depending upon the component.
The smart thing to do (especially because you're asking THIS question) is upload everything + the database so you are certain not to foget anything.
Thanks Ragdata. That's what I am doing right now. It just seems to be alot.
I guess it's because I don't understand where the changes take place inside the template when you modify something, and what changes what, within the entire structure.
It's a been a long day dealing with WAMP and local host issues. But the site turned out good locally if I can ever get it online! I save my other questions for later.
Most welcome sir - I definately recommend that you err on the side of caution until you are more familiar with the code though. Just to be certain that you don't create more headaches for yourself.
Remember to alter the appropriate fields in your configuration.php file as well ... there are things here that trip the best of us up occasionally.
ya. I think I just made that mistake (config.php) and am in the process of reinstalling again. Look on the bright side. It's an alcohol site so if this works the beer will flow tonight. You'll be the first I show the new site. See how a rookie does it!
ps. Next problem is rokbox is cropping everything so its not installed at present. Shame really.
I have a client who is a manufacturer of alcohol as well - the perks of these jobs are DEFINATELY worth a little extra effort :cheesy:
Once you're sorted, we'll get stuck into the RokBox problem if you can install and activate it for a short while - we might be able to see what's going on for you.
Typo's aside, it's up. Whata steep learning curve that was. But I made it. Have a look if you like at my first Rockettheme joomla site!!!
www.hendayvet.com
(not the actual domain btw).
Now I need to figure out how to address the URL in the main body on the home page. Even remove it? Anyone have any tips on that? Both remove url or mainbody? I did a search and couldn't find anything. My next challange will be the rokbox not working.
