    Joomla updates without template problems?

Posted 16 years 1 month ago
    • I did read there are some problems with rocket-themes templates after updating joomla to the latest version. Is there a tutorial on how to update Joomla without destroying the template?

Im running 1.5.9 and using Akiraka. How can i update to Joomla 1.5.10 without template problems?

I did a quick search for updating Akiraka from 1.5.9 to 1.5.10 and got no hits.

And all Rocket Launchers are now 1.5.10.

Could you be reference the post you are referring to?

Are you talking about upgrading the Joomla core itself from 1.5.9 to 1.5.10, or the template from 1.5.0 to 1.5.4.

      To update the template:

First of all, backup your existing template with an FTP client.

If you have made any changes, you can copy / paste what you need.

In back end, assign another template as default, then uninstall your current Akiraka.

Reinstall the latest version and assign it as default.

    • Hi,

Im talking about updating the Joomla core from 1.5.9 to 1.5.10. I did read somewhere (need to search for it myself..lol) that this is a problem, because RocketLauncher-install makes some core changes.
Updating the joomla-core to a newer version would be a problem for the existing rocket template.

Is this true? And if yes, do i need to uninstall and re-install the template every time? And what about the template changes i made. Every Joomla-update would be a pain..

Yes, it is true, and also, for SEO purposes you need to change your site from PHP to HTML, because GOOGLE cannot read PHP.

And remember, every time you add a picture to Joomla you are changing the core files, which makes it difficult to update the core of Joomla. So, how you can avoid this from happening every time you add a picture -

      - Stand up straight, then spin around three times while touching your nose with one hand and slapping your buttocks with the other hand. Then stop facing the computer and say "Joomla, Hoomla, Boomla!" 3x real fast out loud.

After that you can proceed to add one image without it harming the core. Repeat as many times necessary.

      Wingman

P.S. If you do this - please make sure you record it and post it on YouTube.com and send us the link.
