Hi
I have seen that you are offering nmow a phpbb template club. I would love to see the same for the vbulletin forum software.
Is there any hope that you will offer this in the future?

Is phpBB more difficult to adapt to the Joomla template or vb? And what is the market share of PHPBB vs. vb?
How reliable is PHPBB3 vs. vb 3.82? Do they offer something like usergroup subscriptions with paypal etc?
If PhPBB on the same quality level like vb, I would give that one maybe a try...

vBulletin is a "paid-forum" and phpBB is free. So the demand for custom vBulletin custom themes or templates usually aren't in high-demand.

Having run forums since they were nothing more than bulletin boards in ASCII, I'd say that the $160 you'd pay for vbulletin or invision or anything professional is far worth the money if your forum is popular. It's not just the front end "fun" extensions that are available but mostly all the great admin tools that are a must have if you don't want to blow chunks of time. The number of vBulletin owners is large, which is why the company was bought out. There certainly is a demand for vbulletin templates. The real question is whether A/rhuk wants to spend time creating them since the "integration" of the two is probably not as simple. vB templating is not nearly as straightforward and doesn't play as well with other software - that's more of the truth IMHO.

vBulletin Features
IPB Features
vBulletin is near to the v4 Release i suppose. Its in Alpha stage afaik.
IPB has a community project called "IP Converge". It lets you share information between IP and Joomla or IP and Wordpress. Am not sure if vBulletin offers the same.

I would se it this way:
phpbb is free. So how many of those phpbb for free users do you expect are willing to PAY for a template?
vbulletin was never free. I estimate that 60% of big forums are run with vbulletin. Thse are forums, whoch normally are interested also to make money. Not just a hobby of a student.
So how many of those paying vbulletin owners do you expect are willing to pay for a template?
I think the answers to both questions are quite obvious.
Beside of this, I agree that it might be harder to develop a good tempolate for vbulletin. ut in maybe 6 montsh time, vb 4 wll be out. With a new template system. So then it might be easier to develop something...

Thanks for the link with teh comparsion. But I do not think that the modern software do differentiate featuerwise.
It is more a question of stability with large forums and high traffic, easy adminstration, PayPal inclusion to be able to make money and a big hacker community wihich is relaibel and has a high quality incl. the way how the hacks can be uploaded.
I do not see any software next to vb at the moment, who can deliver in these points same quality compared to vb.
There is always room for improvements. But I tried many different forum software (I run about 30+ forums at teh moment), and none is coming close to vb. There might be a month in which another software has feature xyz, but it is just a question of months or weeks until vb offers the same.
I need software, with which I will not have headaches. With that amount of forums, I am not able to spend a lot of time for each one. So quality and reliabilty (also for upgrades, hacks etc.) is in high priority for me. So this is why I switched most of my forums to vb and will continue to do so.
For you as a programmer, teh most important point is, wehre you can make the most money. I do think that your customer base will be different for you phpbb templates compared to joomla templates. For the forum templates, teher will be a lot more individuals and less companies or webdesigners who consult companies.
This is why I think the expectations of the individuals come into play. If someone sues a free software as a forum software, knowing that support etc. will be not as good as with a payed software, then it will be a lot more difficult for you to sell a template to that person.
vbulletin users are used to pay for a high quality service. No matter whether they use joomla or not. And they will be wlling to pay money for your templates. That is for sure.
So take this into consideration. At the end of the day, you need to make money

Me for one , plus the others who inhabit the phpBB template forums here at RT. I am very happy to use phpBB for my forums on various websites. I have them linked/synched to the main Joomla-based websites using Rokbridge (which I had no problems at all getting set up - worked first time, every time). I use my websites for the main business of the organisation, and the forums are used as discussions and support areas. I don't use them to sell things, so I don't need many addons for the forum software.
phpBB has been very stable (never had a crash in several years) and easy to manage for me, and I'm definitely not an expert. I'm not saying that phpBB is any better or worse than any other forum software, but I could not let that statement above go by without commenting. I guess that "horses for courses" applies here - use the forum software that you get comfortable with.
