With all the options in the Template Manager, with Gantry, there's not much of a need to duplicate the templates. - Thanks,

So far I have duplicated the template directory via ftp, then discovered and installed the copied versions, however after doing this and trying to enter the template properties I get this error;
500 - An error has occurred.
Error loading form file
Any idea what could be causing this?
