This may sound dumb, but I have to ask, just to be sure. Does my host provider have to support each component (module and plug-in) I install on my Joomla site for it to work? That is the excuse their Tech Rep is giving me for the plague of 500 server errors I have been experiencing for the last three weeks.
I had my site up and live. All of the modules and plug-ins where functioning flawlessly. Three weeks ago, my site just went nuts. I decided to delete the entire site and database. When I tried to preform a clean install, I could no longer install any of the modules or plug-ins that I had been previously using. Every time I tried I would get a 500 server error message. I would even get it when I tried going from page to page in my Joomla admin panel.
At first their position was "We don't support Joomla after a successful install". I played around with it some more. The site I built on my test server works just fine. The site I built on the live server worked fine until April 17th. I concluded my only option was to move to a new host. I called several days ago to begin the process of transferring my domain name. The person I spoke with convinced my to give their tech support one last attempt at correcting the problem on their server. This morning I get the excuse that they don't support JCE 1.5.1 . One of the 21 modules and plug-ins I was attempting to re-install on my site with no luck.
Your thoughts would be welcome......

not sure what 21 modules and plugins you were running on your site. sure, certain 3rd party extensions will cause javascript conflicts when used together on the same site, but i dont know if they can kill a server?
i really think you should change your host, comments like
"We don't support Joomla after a successful install" and "...they don't support JCE 1.5.1" (which is an editor's pick in the joomla extensions directory) just say it all.
i am even wondering if their servers meet the minimum requirements to run a joomla site?
