    Google ranks

Posted 16 years 2 days ago
    • Hi there,
This is a SEO/SEF issue.I have my site www.onlinecreate.com about 2 months ago. Many things happen since that.I installed joomla several times unistalled ,installed os commerce, unistalled, installed word press, unistalled and about a month changed host and made a new install of joomla 1.5.10 with example content.
Now i removed the example content and i'm inserting my own articles.
The question is:How ALL this changes i did in my domain will affect my site in the GOOGLE ORGANIC SEARCH RANKS?
NOTE:all this time that i have my domain, the site was always online. But i never turned ON the sef options built in in joomla(and others .php platforms)
Is there someone with SEO/SEF that could give me some tips? :P (i'm afraid to be behind in google's search)

    • firs tthings first, chances are while google might have found your site the changes are not going to have such a negative impact for you

what i would do, if i were you, is create a development environment - which in essence is a copy of your site and database and put it somwhere like /dev and in robots.txt add a disallow to the location (so google doesn't start indexing it)

then, if you ever want to do anything to your live site - you can do it to your /dev site first and make sure you are happy

but - get yourself something like xmap:
      extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structu...ite-map/3066/details

which will generate a sitemap for you and add that to your google webmaster account. once google has that, it will index the right pages for you. then turn on SEF URL's if you want to

basically, as your site is new, it's not such a big issue. if your site was 5 years old and you did all these changes and google was regularly visiting your site then it may have an impact but as it's new, it wont ..

but create a /dev area and do all your testing/playing there before putting live ;) always a good idea in my opinion
