Hi,
I'm building in Meridian and the site is overdue, so I quickly need to put up a temporary page that essentially says "We're Almost Ready."
I made a standard HTML page in Nvu, and have it saved as index.html. Then I went looking for index.html in my server files under templates. Found it. But...
Not being sure, I downloaded it to see what it looked like and when opened in Nvu it was blank. So, now I'm pretty confused.
If you can help me, I'd appreciate advice.
1. Will the file I made in Nvu work in Joomla?
2. What file do I replace in the server?
3. If it is replacing the index.html file, does it matter that the permissions are 0644 and everything in the folder is 0755?
I know this is probably really basic stuff, but I've never done it before.

How about using the standard 'site is offline' message.
There are instructions for customizing it.....
For example, here:
